The Flight of the Garner Family



  Margaret Garner, a slave, crossed into Cincnnati
with her family to escape slavery.
She killed her daughter and stabbed herself,
though, when she was faced with apprehension
and she returned to Kentucky.
The story was  the inspiration for
Toni Morrison's book, "Beloved"
